How may one approach this issue today as opposed to thirty years ago when Paolo Portoghesi staged his Venice Biennale of 1980 under the demagogic title The End of Prohibition & the Presence of the Past; an event that is generally regarded as having inaugurated the Post Modernist style, as opposed to the general Post Modern condition, which, as given the circumstances of our time one can hardly refute. As it happens, the first edition of my book Modern Architecture: A Critical History was also published in 1980, despite the fact that I had started to write this work almost a decade earlier.
